The Steelers have scored a ton of points over the last two weeks, but have started slow in each game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are staring 6-2 right in the face as they gear up to host the New York Giants this Monday night to close out Week 8, and close out the first half of the season as they head into their bye week.
The Steelers have scored 69 points over their last two games, and currently average 23 points per contest as well as a respectable 13th place in EPA per play. However, Pittsburgh has yet to really come out of the gates fast in any game thus far, something that quarterback Russell Wilson said is something that they need to improve upon.
“I think the biggest thing is just starting cleaner,” Wilson said. “I think the best things we did was we responded really well. I mean obviously we scored 37 [but] we felt like we left some more touchdowns out there on the field that we could have had potentially. So we’ve got the right mentality.”
If the Steelers hop out to an early lead by scoring touchdowns rather than field goals, it will force a poor Giants offense to rely on Daniel Jones to throw against the Steelers’ defense – something that will play right into Pittsburgh’s hand.
