The Steelers OC says he isn’t going anywhere

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense has taken a big step forward in 2024 from what they had put on the field in the previous handful of seasons under Matt Canada. Pittsburgh currently ranks 16th in the league in EPA compared to ranking 24th through 12 weeks a season ago. A lot of that is thanks to offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, who was hired shortly after the Steelers were eliminated from the playoffs after the 2023 season.

Over the last few days, rumors had begun that Smith was a candidate to become the new head coach at North Carolina after the university fired Mack Brown. However, Smith laid those rumors to rest on Thursday.

“That’s not my focus,” Smith said. “I’ve got one of the best jobs in football right now… I love being a Steeler.

Smith confirmed that North Carolina reached out, but his focus is with Pittsburgh. The Steelers face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13 and will look to avoid their second straight loss.
