We take a look at the lines available on FanDuel Sportsbook and pick out some of our favorite prop bets to wager in Chiefs-Steelers for Week 17.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are playing host this week after an abysmally short turnaround, having just played their Week 16 matchup on Saturday afternoon, with kickoff slated for Christmas afternoon at 1 p.m. ET from Acrisure Stadium.
Understandably, given their 14-1 opponent, the Steelers enter this matchup as 2.5-point home underdogs, with the point total at 43.5. Standard game lines aren’t the only way to get in on the action, though. If there isn’t enough on the line already in this contest and you’re looking for more, here are a few of our favorite Chiefs-Steelers player prop bets to consider.
Pat Freiermuth OVER 28.5 receiving yards (-113)
It’s no secret that star wideout George Pickens is returning in Week 17, which has understandably pushed down the betting lines on receiving yards for other contributors in the Steelers’ passing game. However, Pat Freiermuth’s receiving total may have been overcorrected. With Russell Wilson behind center, Freiermuth is averaging 34.9 receiving yards per game and now gets a favorable matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs over the middle. The Chiefs are allowing a league-high 8.9 yards per attempt on targets to TEs this season, one of three teams to have allowed more than 1,000 receiving yards to the position and the sixth-highest receiving success rate on such targets (57.7%) per NFL Next Gen Stats.
Hollywood Brown OVER 3.5 receptions (-120)
The Chiefs signed wide receiver Hollywood Brown this offseason on a one-year prove-it deal, but he hadn’t made his debut prior to Week 16 due to a shoulder injury. Even in limited live game reps, though, it seems apparent that Marquise “Hollywood” Brown has a sufficient rapport with Patrick Mahomes, having been targeted on a ridiculous 53.3% of his routes run — the highest target rate for any Chief, at any position all season long within a single week (min. 15 snaps played). He caught five of eight targets in his debut with Kansas City and should see an increase in snaps played. Brown hasn’t had the greatest of track records against the Steelers, with 3 or fewer receptions in five of seven games, but it seems likely that Brown will be a feature of the offense in his second week with the team, and the Steelers are without starting QB Joey Porter Jr.
Jaylen Warren OVER 18.5 receiving yards
Warren hasn’t been perfectly healthy this season, but every week removed that he is from injury, he continues to establish himself further as the Steelers’ primary receiving back. In fact, Warren has seen an increase in his offensive snap rate in each of the past three weeks, from 36% in Week 13 to 52% in Week 14, 53% in Week 15 and 67% in Week 16. This week, the Steelers will face a challenging Chiefs’ rushing defense (even without Chris Jones, should he miss this contest), which is the perfect excuse to utilize the passing game with the RBs as a substitute for an inefficient run game. Warren has taken over as the Steelers’ primary receiving back; since Week 11, Warren has run 100 routes (21 targets, 19 receptions for 173 receiving yards) to Najee Harris’ 63 (15 targets, 13 receptions for 104 receiving yards). In a matchup where the Steelers project to be playing from behind, expect Warren to get plenty of work.
