Pickens engaged in a fight on the last play of the game

The Pittsburgh Steelers have three losses on the season, all of which were by one score. The latest of which came down to a last-play Hail Mary from Russell Wilson that fell incomplete. However, it’s what happened after the play that was talked about even more. George Pickens and Browns cornerback Greg Newsome got into a small brawl that began while the ball was still in the air, to which former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was highly critical of.

“George is fighting with a guy before the ball is even in the air,” Roethlisberger said on Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger. “And I’m like, is he trying to draw a penalty? I’m confused by that as well. I don’t know what he’s doing.”

Roethlisberger reiterated, though, that he is not questioning Pickens’ effort.

“I’m not saying that he’s giving up on the play,” Roethlisberger said. “But if you’re not making a play on the ball, what are you doing? That kind of made me bonkers too. We didn’t have anybody down there to make a play, and that’s Pickens your guy. If you want one guy to be down there, it’s him or Mount Washington.”

The Steelers have another tough divisional game on deck, as they’ll face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13. The good news for them, and Pickens, is that he totaled nearly 200 yards and two scores the last time these two teams met.
