The Steelers’ captain says no one quit.
There have been several people with several thoughts on the Steelers’ effort, or perceived lack thereof when they were dominated by the Baltimore Ravens in the wild card round. Commentator Kirk Herbstreit asked of the Steelers during the game “Where the hell is the fight?” And the question was a fair one to ask. The Ravens ran up and down at will on the Steelers, and made it look quite effortless.
Cam Heyward spoke on the team’s effort on the latest episode of Not Just Football and said no one quit.
“You had guys like Patrick Queen fighting through illness,” Heyward said. “If they’re giving less than 100 percent, they’ve got to live with that, but from my perspective, there wasn’t anybody like that.”
Heyward added that he hears the frustration from fans, and he is frustrated as well.
“It’s not just letting letting our fans down, it’s letting ourselves down,” Heyward said. “We carry so much on our shoulders. We appreciate every fan that’s there that cares. We’re more than just frustrated and we understand that it’s unacceptable because of the people who were here before who’ve had such great success. And there’s a lot that needs to improve on our side of the ball.”
Heyward added that this was a “Terrible, terrible” ending to a season that started off great for the Steelers.
