Fan Friday: Ways to celebrate July 4th Steelers style

As the United States ramps up to its 250th birthday, the 2025 July 4th holiday is a precursor to a great celebration Independence Day will be next year. As fans ourselves, we thought it would be fun on this Fan Friday to talk about ways Steelers Nation can celebrate locally, in Pittsburgh, and also across the country.

Steelers Hall of Honor Museum and Stadium Blitz

The Hall of Honor museum is located in Acrisure Stadium and is home to over 50 inductees, currently. With over 10,000 square feet, the museum gives fans of all ages opportunities to learn more about the NFL franchise, view memorabilia and curated artifacts, all while donating entry fees to the Art Rooney Scholarship Fund.

This year, the Steelers organization will have the museum open for fan tours beginning at 4 p.m. local time on July 4 until 7 p.m.

During the same hours, the Stadium Blitz event – a tour of Acrisure Stadium, team locker rooms, the playing field, and more – will be taking place, giving Steelers fans an opportunity to get in two big events in one afternoon.

Fireworks at Acrisure

Fans can experience the spectacular Independence Day fireworks from one of the best vantage points in the city on an exclusive, limited-edition tour that includes seating in the Ford Fan Zone for a breathtaking view of the fireworks show by the three rivers. Commemorative fan items have been included in the past – including Terrible Towels – so if you’re a fan, this might be the perfect spot to celebrate in Pittsburgh up close and personal with other fans.

Doing the tour isn’t the only way to view the fireworks show, however, although it has been highly rated when being viewed from the fan zone location. Local fans can be a great resource to out of town fans who want to view the fireworks without the tour. And if that show doesn’t work, there are other local Pittsburgh-area shows.

If you can’t be in Pittsburgh, don’t fret. Find a local fireworks display and wear your Steelers gear. There’s always a way to incorporate your fandom into holidays.

Fan barbeques

You don’t have to be in the Steel City tailgating to throw a fun, Steelers fan-centric barbeque for the 4th of July. Most fans have the gear that would spice up a local get-together whether they’re in California, New York, or in between.

Toss some burgers or dogs, kielbasa or brats, on the grill. Or, you could try making a traditional Pittsburgh food: pierogis/perogies (how you spell it, or say it, may depend on your region but there are plenty of recipes online). Set up a famous cookie table. Cold drinks, good friends, fellow fans – what could be better?

Car shows and fan swap meets

Believe it or not, there are car shows and swap meets held by local Steelers fans across the country. Look up your local fan club meeting spots – local sports bars and grills often have that information, too – and take your ride, decked out with Steelers details, to meet with other fans. At swap meets, fans often get together to trade memorabilia like trading cards, jerseys, collectibles, and other related items. It’s a great way to meet other fans in your area before the season starts (and set up a meet once it does).

No matter how you spend Independence Day, we wish you a safe, happy holiday as fellow Steelers fans.
