The former Steeler is calling it a career
While the NFL Draft and the weeks following it are filled with the hope and potential of what these new players could become, this time of year also features players saying goodbye to the game for good. One former Steeler did that on Friday, as linebacker L.J. Fort announced his retirement via Instagram.
“All I needed was an opportunity and I’m forever thankful to the ones who gave me just that,” Fort said. “Never could have imagined 10 years in the game! Thank you to all my family, friends, teammates, agent, trainers, staff, and organizations who helped me turn my childhood dream into a reality! It doesn’t matter how you start, ignore the circumstances and get to work!”
Fort spent four seasons with the Steelers from 2015-18. largely serving as a special-teams contributor before becoming a bigger part of the linebacker rotation. In four years with the Steelers, he accumulated 100 tackles. He last appeared in a game in 2020 with the Baltimore Ravens.
