Come in, draft awhile
Welcome back to BTSC’s Friday night open thread:
1. Welcome in, Steelers Nation, for another Friday night. Last week Ryland promoted that we’d be running a community draft tonight. Here’s how things will work. We’ll have at least one run of a 32-team, first-round mock draft. Sign ups our first come first serve. Follow this link to the draft room, use the password Steelers to enter and claim a team. We ask all participants to take this semi-seriously, so no drafting punters and kickers for division rivals, please. We will aim to kick off the mock at 7:00 PM EST. Ryland or myself will create a comment thread below where we will add the results so everyone can follow along.
2. This time next week, we should know who the Steelers took with their first pick. Ryland and I have been hard at working studying this class of rookies. Let’s have a mailbag style Q&A in the chat. Fire off any questions you have about prospects or anything else about the draft and we’ll try our best to get to them.
3. There’s been plenty of discourse as we get closer to the draft about how the Steelers should pick in the first round. The favored pick my a large number of Stillers fans seems to be defensive line, and specifically, Derrick Harmon. With the draft, I don’t want us to put all of our eggs in one basket, so I’ll propose this scenario for you. If the Steelers don’t take a defensive lineman in the first, what player or position group would you be most OK with? And you can’t answer “Best player available” without elaborating further, that’s a cop out.
