The Steelers may be out of it but, hell, so are the Ravens. There’s still football on this weekend, so come through and chill.

Welcome back to BTSC’s Friday night open thread:

  1. The season ended miserably, but since misery loves company, let’s all raise a glass to the Ravens — who somehow had the deciding play in both their games against the Chiefs come down to a tight end’s error. First Likely’s toe, and then Andrews fumbling and then later bobbling away the tying 2-point conversion.

Our remaining games:

Bills vs. Chiefs

Commanders vs. Eagles

What are your predictions? What will our Super Bowl LIX matchup? Who is going to be a hero for their team this week? Who will choke? Will these games be close or will they be blowouts? Can Jayden Daniels be the first rookie to lead his team to the Super Bowl? What ever your takes and thoughts are, have at ‘em.

2. We’ll have plenty of time for a deep dive on offseason talk, but for now I want our BTSC community to put their GM hats on. If you could make one move — and we’re talking player personnel only — this offseason what is it? Whether it’s a player the should keep, trade for, trade away, draft, or sign in free agency. Call your shot and try to be specific. For example if you want to “find a quarterback” pick a guy and make a case.

For me, I’d like the Steelers to pursue guard Trey Smith from Kansas City.

3. I’m a draft nerd. The first draft I ever watched was 2004. It notably had the drama of Eli Manning refusing to play for the Chargers. That ultimately led to an NBA-style swap of Manning for Philip Rivers. That’s great live television, but more importantly, that same draft had the Steelers drafting Ben Roethlisberger. Pairing that draft night with the fun ride that season turned into had me back in front of the TV for 2005 draft. That draft’s TV moment was Aaron Rodgers infamous tumble down the draft after being in contention for the first overall pick. The merciless camera cuts to him seemingly after every pick has become something of NFL folklore. After that, I was hooked for good.

That preamble was my long way of saying I’ll be dropping little draft nuggets in Friday Night threads. They won’t be deep dives, but they’ll most likely be highlight videos or film cut ups I find. College All-22 isn’t as readily available as NFL, so we’ll work with what we can find.

So for our first drop, I’ll introduce a player that I was intrigued by as a potential Day 3 pick. I’ve been thinking the Steelers should eventually move Keeanu Benton back to his more natural position and once again employ a true nose tackle. That lead me to Georgia Tech’s Zeek Biggers. This isn’t a guy that is a finished product by any means, but his size (6’6 and 322 pounds) and mobility have me intrigued as a late-round flier they could develop. Watch the clips and let me know what you think. Something there?
