2024 season awards will be handed out Thursday evening
The 14th annual NFL Honors Ceremony will air on Thursday, February 6 live at 9 p.m. ET, as the most coveted awards from the 2024 NFL season like AP NFL MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Walter Payton Man of the Year and more, are handed out. The event will air live on Fox, NFL Network and NFL+.
Rapper (and Steelers fan) Snoop Dogg will host the show at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, Louisiana — just a 0.7-mile walk from the Caesars Superdome, where Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will kick off Sunday, February 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
The Steelers have a couple of players up for end-of-season awards, including OLB T.J. Watt, who was named one of five finalists for 2024 AP Defensive Player of the Year. This marks the fourth time Watt has been named a finalist over the past five seasons, though he’s walked away with just one win in that span (2021). Among those also competing for the award are Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett (reigning DPOY), Denver Broncos CB Pat Surtain II, Philadelphia Eagles LB Zack Baun and Cincinnati Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson. Surtain is the heavy favorite to win DPOY based on FanDuel Sportsbook odds of -550, with Watt ranked second with odds at +140, though it would be tremendously surprising to see him walk away with the honor coming off a down season.
As the team’s candidate for 2024 Walter Payton Man of the Year, the Steelers have nominated defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi for his efforts within the community, including his free youth football camp, annual Thanksgiving dinners and shopping events and back-to-school events to support those in need. If Ogunjobi were to win the award, he would be the third player on the 2024 roster to be recognized with the coveted award for “excellence on and off the field,” including DT Cam Heyward (last year’s recipient) and QB Russell Wilson (2020, Seattle Seahawks).
Representing the Pittsburgh Steelers for 2024 NFL Fan of the Year is Taylor Sinnott, a 29-year-old certified Child Life Specialist in Long Beach, California, whose passion for the Steelers began with her father — a Steelers fan since the 1970s — who suddenly passed away after suffering a major heart attack in 2023.
Sinnott reportedly enjoys incorporating football into the treatment of her patients, either through conversation or a friendly game of Madden to help distract them from the trials of medical treatment. She says that “football teaches resilience, and the community built behind the Steelers has helped her and her patients through some of their hardest times.”
