The Steelers start looking for Aaron Curry’s replacement.

After Steelers linebackers coach Aaron Curry left for the New York Jets, Pittsburgh has started to look for his replacement.

Per a report by Sports Illustrated’s Noah Strackbein, the Steelers are interviewing Dallas Cowboys linebackers coach Scott McCurley for the team’s own linebackers coach position.

McCurley is a Pennsylvania native who played college football at Pitt, starting off as a walk-on. He started coaching with the Green Bay Packers in 2006, first with coaching administration, then as defensive quality control coach, then assistant linebackers coach, then defensive assistant in 2018. During his time in Green Bay, McCurley worked with names such as Clay Matthews and Blake Martinez.

McCurley was out of the league in 2019 but joined the Cowboys as linebackers coach in 2020. Since then, he’s worked with and developed players such as Jaylon Smith, Leighton Vander Esch, Micah Parsons, and DeMarvion Overshown.

With Brian Schottenheimer taking over as the Cowboys’ new head coach, it could explain why McCurley is interviewing for the same position but with another team.

If hired, McCurley would be the second addition to the Steelers’ coaching staff this offseason, the first being former Raiders safeties coach Gerald Alexander joining the Pittsburgh staff as defensive backs coach.
