It appears the Steelers have had enough.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a place where, once again, they’ll have several critical decisions to make this offseason. One of those choices and plans of attack will include the sad and sorry wide receivers room. And according to Noah Strackbein of All Steelers on Sports Illustrated, that plan likely includes moving on from receiver George Pickens,
“According to a team source, the Steelers are likely to ‘move on’ from Pickens this offseason, with the idea of completely reshaping their wide receiver room,” Strackbein writes. “After a dreadful 2024 campaign and the expectation that Justin Fields or a new option may be taking over at quarterback, Pittsburgh is looking for a new group of wide receivers for the offense.”
The Steelers have a lot of ways to attack the wide receiver position. As I suggested, acquiring Garrett Wilson and Courtland Sutton can certainly happen, and it would give you a legitimate No. 1 and No. 2 receiver that would be difficult to gameplan for every week. They could also go about acquiring one or the other and then draft a receiver early in the draft. Regardless, that group needs a complete re-vamp, save for Calvin Austin who proved himself as a quality option. Roman Wilson is likely very safe, as well, considering he didn’t play as a rookie due to injury. Regardless, big changes at the position are coming.
