The future Hall of Fame quarterback wants to remain in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers are done for the 2024 season, and will now turn their attention to the offseason. And for the second straight year, part of their offseason plans and questions that need answered involve the quarterback position.

Russell Wilson looked like he could potentially be the 2025 answer earlier in the season when he was carving up the Bengals for over 400 yards and putting up 40+ points, but the season ended with the passing game falling off a cliff and the Steelers losing their final five games. Despite that, Wilson says he wants to remain a Steeler.

“That’s the plan,” Wilson said when asked if he wants to return. “I love it here. I think we have a great football team. Obviously, it didn’t end the way we wanted it to, and I think there’s a lot more to do.”

If it comes down to Wilson and Justin Fields, Fields makes more sense. His age, combined with the way he played at the beginning of the season (and compared to how Wilson played at the end of the season) doesn’t warrant bringing back the aging, declining Wilson.
