The NFL’s 32 nominees — one from each team — for the 2024 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award were announced on Monday. The Pittsburgh Steelers nominated safety and 2x special teams captain Miles Killebrew as their recipient this year. It marks his first nomination for the award.
This marks the 11th season celebrating the honor, named in memory of Steelers founder Art Rooney Sr., though incidentally, a Steeler is yet to win the award. Pitt legend and Future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald was the award’s first recipient, while last year’s honor went to then-Seattle Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner.
Four finalists from each conference selected by a panel of former players will advance to the next round. The award recipient will then be selected by vote on the annual Pro Bowl ballot by the players.
The winner receives a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to his charity of choice.
