The Steelers offensive tackle doesn’t lack awareness

Pittsburgh Steelers second-year tackle Broderick Jones had his worst game as a pro in Week 2 against the Broncos.

He had three penalties on one drive, including a holding call that negated a 51 yard pass from Justin Fields to George Pickens. Those penalties led to him being benched after the Steelers were rotating he and rookie Troy Fautanu at right tackle.

Despite the benching, the Georgia product hasn’t loss confidence and is more than aware of how life in the NFL goes.

“Sh*t, I played bad,” Jones said. “That’s all it is at the end of the day. You f—k up, you get pulled.”

Even after a rough outing, Jones still has confidence in himself and the Steelers organization despite his poor performance.

“They took me in the first round for a reason,” Jones said. “I never lost confidence and I don’t feel like they lost confidence in me.”

For as poor as Jones looked against Denver, it’s refreshing that he has the awareness and the mindset to move on and put it behind him. If and when the time comes, let’s hope he’ll be ready to take full advantage of it.
