Pittsburgh brings back a familiar face.
The Steelers shuffled their depth on Tuesday, with the team announcing the signings of running back Jonathan Ward and wide receiver/returner Jamal Agnew to the practice squad. Offensive lineman John Leglue and wide receiver Lance McCutcheon were released to make room for the new additions.
Ward isn’t that new, though. The running back spent the summer with the Steelers and made the team’s initial practice squad. He’s also appeared in four regular season games this year, logging five carries for 22 yards and 59 special teams snaps.
Since Ward was recently signed to the Steelers’ 53-man roster, released, and then brought back to the practice squad, he is now eligible for another three active roster elevations this season.
The Agnew signing was previously reported.
As for the released players, McCutcheon was a fairly recent signing who’s never appeared in a game for the Steelers. Leglue, however, had his first stint with the team back in 2020, even starting five games at left guard in 2021.
The Steelers prepare to take on the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Nov. 17.
