Pittsburgh releases an offensive guard.

The Steelers have waived offensive lineman Lecitus Smith, per a report from NFL insider Aaron Wilson.

Smith had a short stay on the Steelers’ roster. Pittsburgh claimed him on March 24, 2025 after he was waived by the New England Patriots. Smith had previously spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, and Green Bay Packers.

Smith, a 2022 sixth-round pick, has been a guard at the NFL level with 18 career games played.

The Steelers’ remaining players listed at guard are Isaac Seumalo, Mason McCormick, Spencer Anderson, Doug Nester, Max Scharping, Aiden Williams, and Steven Jones.

While Smith wasn’t expected to challenge for a starting job, depth on the offensive line is considered a point of concern for the Steelers entering the 2025 regular season.

The roster will start to come into focus as NFL teams begin to practice more often during the offseason. The Steelers’ OTAs begin May 27.
