The Steelers’ star doesn’t want to leave.
The Pittsburgh Steelers had a disappointing end to their season, once again going 10-7 and once again getting humiliated in the wild card round of the playoffs. Players spoke with media for the final time this season, and T.J. Watt was asked about his future, to which he said he doesn’t plan on going anywhere.
“I don’t want to leave this place,” Watt said. “I want to be part of the solution.”
“I don’t want to leave this place … I want to be part of the solution.” — TJ Watt. His contract is up after next year. Typically this offseason is when he would be extended.

2025 is the final year on Watt’s current deal, which means an extension will have to be discussed and agreed to in the offseason or he will become a free agent in 2026. Watt has obviously been a definitive part of this era of Steelers football. He’s put together a Hall of Fame resume and is arguably the best edge rusher in the team’s history. However, it has come without winning any postseason games, something that the Steelers will once again spend the spring and summer trying to solve.
