On Sunday afternoon, the Pittsburgh Steelers visited Paycor Stadium to face the Cincinnati Bengals in an AFC North divisional battle. Although the Steelers offense had struggled to find the end zone in previous games, they were firing on all cylinders against the Bengals. After scoring three touchdowns in the first half of the game – the first time they’ve done so in the 2024 NFL regular season – they came out in the third quarter and went back to work, scoring a passing touchdown in their second offensive series of the second half.
On just six plays, the Steelers offense went 80 yards down the field to score. Starting at their own 20, due to the ball hitting the landing zone before veering through the left side of the end zone, the Steelers got help from the Bengals when they were caught with 12 defensive players on the field. On 1st & 10 at their 48, Russell Wilson was sacked for a loss of a yard.
Wilson shook off the hit and took the 2nd down snap out of shotgun, going no-huddle, and hit Ben Skowronek for a 23-yard gain. On 1st & 10 at the Cincinnati 30, Najee Harris carried the ball to the Cincinnati 25.
On 2nd & 5, still in the no-huddle offense, Wilson was pressured but was able to step up into the pocket to his right and get rid of the ball. Tight end Pat Freiermuth adjusted his route to settle between Bengals defenders to grab the dime of a pass, secure it, spin, and run into the end zone with four defensive backs around him for the touchdown.

With a successful PAT from Chris Boswell, the Steelers went up, 34-24, on the Bengals. Although Cincinnati would attempt a comeback, the Steelers never allowed them to get closer than six points from the final score of 44-38. The win gave Pittsburgh a secure lead in the AFC North race, especially when the Baltimore Ravens lost their NFL Week 13 game to the Philadelphia Eagles.
